Some sellers assume Amazon will look the other way. The record says otherwise — and the penalty is aimed exactly where it hurts: your listings.
ASIN-level suppression
Amazon doesn't necessarily remove your product. Instead, it suppresses your Belgian offers at ASIN level — your product stays listed, but Belgian buyers can't purchase it. It's quiet, surgical, and it directly cuts your Belgian revenue.
The fines
Separate from Amazon, the Belgian authorities can fine you directly. A missed annual declaration is €727.25 per infringement, with recurring breaches climbing. In serious cases, criminal penalties can reach €2,000,000.
A track record of enforcing on deadline day
Amazon has done this before — and it enforces on the deadline, not after:
- 2022 — blocked sellers without German LUCID registration;
- 2023 — delisted sellers without WEEE registration;
- 2025 — deactivated non-compliant offers on the very day the battery regulation's deadline hit.
Belgium gets no free pass: unlike a few markets (Sweden, Poland, Italy, Ireland), Belgium is not on Amazon's list where a non-producer can use a supplier's number. You need your own Belgian registration — and your own AR.
What to do now
Confirm your obligation, then register. Belgian Fost Plus registration takes 4–6 weeks — faster than Germany's 12–14. The sooner you start, the sooner you're enforcement-proof.
