EU EPR for UK Sellers: Belgium Packaging Guide
Treat UK packaging compliance and sales into Belgium as separate assessments. A UK registration is not evidence of Belgian compliance, while Brexit alone does not prove that every existing EU registration is invalid or that the same representative arrangement applies in every case.
Keep UK and EU country records separate
The UK government sets out its own packaging EPR eligibility and reporting framework. Use that guidance for the UK assessment, then create a separate record for each EU destination. As a practical starting point, keep UK sales, Belgian sales and other EU sales in distinct worksheet columns. Do not transfer a UK threshold or reporting conclusion into a Belgian assessment without checking its legal basis.
Review the seller, importer and customer
Prepare the contract or order flow for a direct sale to a Belgian consumer and for a sale to an EU distributor. Record which company invoices the customer and which parties add packaging. If you use both a marketplace and your own website, assess both routes. Flag Northern Ireland or other special arrangements for a separate review rather than using one general Brexit statement.
Audit existing registrations before replacing them
Collect each registration confirmation, scheme contract, reporting receipt and mandate. Check the named company, covered country, packaging stream and reporting period. A change of entity, sales route or applicable rule may require an update, but do not assume that an older registration is automatically unusable. Ask the relevant register or scheme what must change, and retain its response.
Separate registration, representation and platform checks
Use the current country rules and the PPWR producer profile to assess representation. Check the status of any proposed change before relying on it as an exemption. The Commission distinguishes the national rules that continue to apply from the harmonised-register rollout. Separately, save the exact marketplace notification, country, waste stream, requested evidence and deadline; a general article cannot establish the requirement for your account.
Plan the Belgian service scope
Provide packaging components and weights, Belgian quantities, the legal selling entity and existing records. Ask for the household or industrial route to be identified and for reporting responsibilities to be written down. BelComply covers all 27 EU member states, based in Belgium.
